Richard Wagner’s Ring Cycle is one of the greatest stories ever told. It’s made up of four operas, totaling about 15 hours. In "Gods and Monsters," produced by Angela Mitchell, conductor Brett Mitchell shows how Wagner tells the story through music and gives us a roadmap for understanding such a gigantic work.
Boston-based Hub New Music is a mixed quartet of “young intrepids” (WQXR, New York) exploring a richly diverse palette of 21st century sounds. Prior to their performance at Cleveland State University, they joined Angela Mitchell on Facebook Live for music and conversation.

Classical Revolution Cleveland is not really an ensemble or even a roster of musicians, but an idea—the idea of taking classical music and presenting it to audiences in unusual and unconventional ways. Five musicians from CRC appeared recently on First Fridays for a half hour of music and conversation.

The BlueWater Chamber Orchestra is now in its 8th season, and last November, they presented a program called "Lush Autumn Musings" at Plymouth Church in Shaker Heights. Guest conductor Daniel Meyer led a program of works by Ravel, Barber, and Schubert. At intermission, WCLV's Angela Mitchell speaks with soprano Laura Pedersen.
Introducing "Musical Minutes," the new WCLV video series that explores and explains the masterworks. In this first installment, we look into what exactly is so groundbreaking about Beethoven's 5th Symphony.
Burning River Baroque and host Angela Mitchell presented a First Fridays program called "At a Crossroad: Will you Live, Love or Die? A choose-your-own adventure through three French cantatas." The program was simultaneously streamed on both the Ohio Channel and Facebook.
Five students from the Suzuki Guitar Program at The Music Settlement joined Angela Mitchell in the KeyBank Studio to give a sampling of what they have been working on. They were joined by their teacher, Robert Gruca, and Suzuki Department Chair Callista Koh. Listen to or watch the program here.
Aaron Copland called them an "invaluable asset to our present day music scene." Angela Mitchell welcomed the Dorian Wind Quintet to the KeyBank Studio for some music and conversation on Facebook Live. The Efferus String Quartet is the graduate quartet in residence at Kent State University. They have a number of concerts coming up in Northeast Ohio, and visited WCLV to give a preview to our Facebook audience, hosted by Angela Mitchell.
Angela welcomed classical guitarists Sharon Isbin and Colin Davin to the studio for the November edition of First Fridays. They played selections by Granados, Tárrega, Montaña, Shore, Rodrigo, Lauro, and Gnattali. Listen to the entire program here.
Joshua Smith is Principal Flute of The Cleveland Orchestra and a founding member of Ensemble HD. On Facebook Live, he gives an exclusive performance of Debussy’s “Syrinx,” and also goes through the care and keeping of his instrument.

Angela Mitchell hosted this episode of Cleveland Ovations, featuring performances from Arts Renaissance Tremont. The concert series is now in its 27th season in residence at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ. The program includes chamber music by Beethoven, Britten, Schumann, and Paul Lansky.

The North Coast Winds, formed in 2013, are made up of five alumni from the Cleveland Institute of Music. They visited the KeyBank Studio for an hour of music and conversation, hosted by WCLV's Angela Mitchell. They performed works by Paquito D'Rivera, Gunther Schuller, Darius Milhaud, and more.

"Star Wars: The Score Awakens" has won First Place in the Documentary category of the Ohio Excellence in Journalism awards, presented by the Press Club of Cleveland. Angela served as Executive Producer of the program, which examined John Williams's score for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

On this episode featuring the BlueWater Chamber Orchestra, WCLV offered a special tribute to founder and artistic director Carlton Woods, who passed away in February. The program includes some of Carlton's favorite performances over the years. Plus, his colleagues share their favorite memories of him.
Cleveland Opera Theater singers perform selections from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro on this edition of Opera Encore, hosted by Angela Mitchell. They present the entire opera in two performances, April 28 at 7:30 and April 30 at 3:00, at Cleveland Masonic Auditorium.
On this episode of Cleveland Ovations, we were treated to not one, but TWO recent concerts by Les Délices. Concertos Comiques was recorded May 8, 2016, and Songs without Words on October 16, 2016.
