For over a decade, Angela Mitchell has used audio, visual, and digital media to bring music to as many people as possible. In her current role as a freelance media specialist, she has edited concert video or produced promotional content for the Boulder Philharmonic, the Lamont School of Music, and individual musicians in the Denver area. In her time as a classical radio host and producer, she served at public media stations in Cleveland, Houston, and Minneapolis.

Ms. Mitchell began her media career in 2007 as an intern with American Public Media’s Performance Today, where she coproduced and directed two nationally syndicated programs, establishing the tradition of intern-led episodes. In addition to screening the thousands of submissions for broadcast that the program receives each year, Ms. Mitchell wrote scripts, researched programming concepts, and assisted host Fred Child with daily production.

Upon moving to Houston in 2010, Ms. Mitchell secured an internship with Houston Public Radio, where she became an instrumental member of the team that launched full-time classical music station Classical 91.7. She founded Music in the Making, a series that continues today and features performances from Houston’s two largest schools of music. She was promoted from intern to full-time host, a position she held for over a year before relocating to Cleveland to join WCLV.

At WCLV Classical 104.9 in Cleveland, Ms. Mitchell hosted WCLV All Night, If It Ain’t Baroque, Classical Weekend, and select episodes of First Fridays and Cleveland Ovations. She served as executive producer on the award-winning Star Wars special, The Score Awakens. She led the charge in creating digital-first content, including Facebook Live broadcasts and a new YouTube series Musical Minutes, brief and entertaining videos that explore and explain important masterworks.

Ms. Mitchell is a professional singer and performs in operas and musicals throughout Colorado, and previously spent several years as a technology consultant for Deloitte Consulting. She holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Houston, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Minnesota.
