Angela Mitchell joined a virtual ensemble of Colorado Symphony musicians and Music Director Brett Mitchell to explore Gustav Mahler's ninth and final symphony. When the performance of the full work had to be canceled due to COVID-19, the Colorado Symphony and Mr. Mitchell decided to present portions of the symphony virtually, with orchestra musicians playing from home. Ms. Mitchell performs two of the prominent themes from the last movement of the symphony: the hymn “Abide with me” and an excerpt from “The day is fine on yonder heights” from Mahler’s own Kindertotenlieder.
